Training and Awareness Raising
We can provide the following training to your organisation.
1. Domestic Abuse Awareness Training
This is a 1 day course that (learning outcomes)
- Be aware of the long-term physical, sexual & psychological damage inflicted on women by abusive men.
- Have an understanding of the reasons behind male violence to known women.
- Identify domestic violence as a child protection issue.
- Have an understanding of diversity issues in domestic violence cases.
- Be aware of what constitutes good practice in working with male violence to know women.
2. Domestic Abuse Train the Trainers
This is a 3 day course
After the three days Trainers will:
- Have a clear framework of inputs, exercises & experiences designed to meet the learning objectives.
- Have skills to encourage a constructive atmosphere in which learning is enabled.
- Be aware of the long-term physical, sexual & psychological damage inflicted on women by abusive men.
- Have an understanding of the reasons behind male violence to known women.
- Identify domestic violence as a child protection issue.
- Have an understanding of diversity issues in domestic violence cases.
- Be aware of what constitutes good practice in working with male violence to know women.
- Have taken responsibility for their own learning.
- Participate in exercises & contribute from their own experience to enable them to understand the importance of appropriate sharing when facilitating the course.
- Co-operate with their co trainers and each other to meet the learning objectives.
- Listen to and respect each other.
- Constructively challenge discriminatory behaviour.
- Be prompt and keep to time boundaries.

- Naming the behaviour
- Definition and Prevalence of Domestic Abuse
- Why Women stay
- Why some men abuse
- Effects on Children and Young People
- Multi Agency Approach
- Diversity issues
3. Safeguarding Children affected by Domestic Violence
- This is a one day course
- Develop methods of working which promote fair and inclusive practice to all children and families
- Define domestic violence
- Recognise domestic violence
- Understand the effect of domestic violence on children as well as their families
- Understand Risk factors in domestic violence situations for children as well as adults
- Understand the power-control dynamics of domestic violence/abuse
- Have some knowledge about prevalence of domestic violence/abuse
- Appropriately intervene in families where domestic violence is an issue to ensure children’s well being
- Use some skills they have practiced on the course for use with children and families
- Empower victims/survivors of violence
4. Developing Services for children affected by Domestic Violence
Learning outcomes:
- Understanding of HARV and Background to children and young people service
- Values and Aims of children’s services
- Adult and Children and Young People specific conflicting and complimentary.
- Business planning and fundraising strategies
